The Dave Thomas Foundation is probably one of the most well-known adoption advocates in the world. A visit to their website highlights their efforts to promote adoption with the motto “Every child deserves a family.” This year they were/still are running a promotion: buy a key tag for $1 and 90 cents of every tag sold goes to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Another upside is a free Jr. Frosty every time you buy something and show the tag. 🙂 Dave Thomas knew what he was talking about. He was born on July 2,1932 in Atlantic City, NJ to a young unmarried woman he never knew. He was adopted at 6 weeks by Rex and Auleva Thomas, and as an adult became a well-known advocate for adoption, founding the foundation which bears his name. Adoption is an important option, certainly more preferential than abortion. The Dave Thomas Foundation seeks to find a home for every child in foster care.

Galatians 4:1-7 shows a dichotomy of being a slave versus being a son. One of the words he uses is the word “adopted.” When you consider the meaning of adoption and what all it entails, the richness of that relationship just sort of flows out of this passage. We are chosen. We are picked by Him. We are made part of the family with all the rights and privileges which comes from being a son.

I’m looking forward to sharing this Good News with the folks on Sunday. I’m wondering if you have given any thought to being so loved you have been adopted.  Thanks for your prayers.
