Have you ever heard of George Muller?

When he was around 30 years old, he and his wife, Mary, began their ministry to the orphans in Briston, England. George had been pastoring for several years, and now he and Mary opened their own home to needy children. The work began with 30  orphans and quickly expanded. Other homes were furnished, and an additional 100 orphans were admitted. But the need was greater still, so in 1849, a large separate building was constructed that could hold 300 orphans. By 1870, there were five large buildings, housing a total of 2000 children. In a day when orphans comprised close to 60% of England’s criminal population, Muller’s ministry saved thousands of young people from a life on the streets and prisons. Here is one remarkable truth: as an ardent prayer warrior, Muller never solicited funds for his orphan houses. Instead, he took all of his request directly to God. (My note: maybe some can learn from that…like those who want jets, big houses, etc).

Quite a remarkable story don’t you think? Here was a man and his wife who put “their money where their mouth was.” His message: Each child is important.

Sort of a good reminder for us as well. We are important to God. He has adopted us into His family. He is our Father. I plan to share that truth Sunday as a further explanation of last Sunday’s message. Thanks for praying.
