Hail

No I didn’t say…you know…that other one. H E double hockey sticks. 🙂

God’s creation is amazing. As many of you know Jo and I left Monday morning for Ohio to bring our grandson back to Indiana for a (long) week. We decided to do it in one day. We are taking him to a baseball game tonight in Terre Haute so rather than make the long trip here, take a short break, and then head to the game, we decided to do it in one day. Did someone forget to tell me I am not as young as I used to be? So I slept an extra hour or two and we left the house about 8:45. A little over four hours later we arrived at their house. After about an hour or so turnaround, we headed back to Indiana. No problem. 6:00ish would be a good time.

Nobody told me God’s creation would do some really strange things. Like have bright sunshine and in the blink of an eye drive into a blinding thunderstorm. One minute I was tooling along at 75 mph (speed limit is 70) and the next minute I am being pelted by…wait a minute…what are those pings I hear? Did someone just throw a rock from an overpass and hit the top of my truck? No…as you can guess it was hail. Little pea-sized to ping pong sized hail. I tried to get underneath an overpass but two others beat me to it. I minimized the damage by sitting still. 🙂 10-15 minutes later I decided to leave and drove for about 10-15 miles in rain. Suddenly I was in bright sunshine and dry roads.

Weird is all I can say. Braden had head phones on but he could hear the hail pounding the roof. Jo covered her ears. I sat and wondered if my truck would look like a golf ball when it was said and done. Strangely enough, it was clean. I’d say Nissan built themselves a good Frontier. (As a side: we bought Jo’s Mazda at a place which specializes in cars declared “done” by insurance companies. Paint it white and it would look like the newest addition to Titleist golf balls. I even threatened to contact them for advertising).

Anyway, I got to see God’s amazing creation change in the drop of a hat. Sunshine, to thunderstorm with hail, back to sunshine. Never ceases to amaze me. Then I came to the office this morning to a full-on full moon which lit up the place like the lights were on. “The heavens declare the glory of God, the earth shows His handiwork.” No argument here.

Now…do you think He has made anything to slow the dude down and give his grandparents an extra oomph for the upcoming week? But I wouldn’t want it any other way. He is just another marvel of God’s creation. But I seriously doubt I will figure him out.
