LIFE

Written by cycleguy on March 5th, 2014

Several months ago i was asked to consider being a board member for New Beginnings Pregnancy Resource Center (NBPRC). Less than a month ago I went to my first board meeting, and this past Saturday spent the day with many of them in a Strategic Planning Session. With everything on my plate, it is easy to ask why in the world would I take on something else? For one reason and one reason only:

I BELIEVE IN LIFE

NBPRC is the renamed Crisis Pregnancy Center.  It was done because they do so much more than just crisis pregnancy. Yes, they do pregnancy tests. Yes, they counsel against abortion. But they also give out clothes, cribs, help with needs, teach moms (and dads) how to take care of a baby, and a bunch of other things. But the biggest, without question, is my values line up with theirs:

I AM 100% FOR LIFE!

I’m happy to be associated with a compassionate group of people in Spencer, IN. After our board meeting last night, I went home tired after a long day. Imagine my surprise when I opened one of the blogs I read and found this video. Not only is this girl beautiful, she is a darling. I dare you to watch it and not smile. No, I double-dog dare you. 🙂

What are your thoughts?

Thank you for sharing that video, Bill. If you’re ever up in Brampton, I’m taking you for cupcakes!

You’re welcome Larry. Even though I don’t eat cupcakes I will make an exception. As long as it is chocolate with chocolate icing. 🙂

  2. Daniel says:

I glad that you have stepped up and put some “real work” into something that you believe.

  3. Love that you are all about life, Bill.

I have a friend, she’s 75, heavily involved with our local pregnancy resource center. She got pregnant when she was 15. The son she chose not to abort had 3 kids. One of them is now a pastor. Her story is a terrific example of the ripple affect of choosing life. I have another friend who had an abortion when she was 18. She is now divorced after a 25-year marriage and struggling tremendously with a lot of things, many stemming from this choice. Her example is a story of not valuing life and the ripple effect of that choice. Those are my thoughts.

Great story. And good for you for spending your time as God leads.

We have friends that have a downs syndrome child. He’s pushing thirty now and at church and in Bible studies, this young man has the most profound and wise statements. He is a treasure and the glue from God to hold things together when it looks like nothing else could.

I always ponder how the rest of us are handicapped in ways that people like Ricky aren’t…

    Pastor Bill,

Thanks so much for sharing that video – and for your stand for life.

    Blessings
    Ben

Kim, an old family friend, sent this to me via email.

watched the video…I often think of the pregnancy centers and the lives they are saving. My grandson’s could have been one of those aborted. We are thankful everyday that their birthmom chose life !!! She is no longer with us, but the boys know she loved them most because she did give them life. They have been with Randy and Nicki for 11 years now, 15/14/11 !! Those trying years. If you ever need to contact Nicki to have her share their story with a confused young woman trying to decide – keep or adopt out – let me know. Nicki and Jenny had once talked about writing a book about their experience and Nicki’s “God made” family – but this past fall Jenny passed away at the age of 36. Maybe someday Nicki will pull out the letters, and pictures and write a story to share. We have been so blessed by having these wonderful boys in our lives. We thank God everyday for sending them our way.

God has sent you for a reason to work with this group.

I love how you are putting your feet and heart to your beliefs.

I have several friends and a family member who have severe handicap children. Every time we are around them I can see God strength all over their faces and oh the love they have for their kids. The doctors always told me it was a miracle that Tara or Jared or both were not handicapped in some way because I lost seven babies and they would have been severely deformed is the word they used back then. And when I am around these family I know God would have given strength if it had been us.

Years ago I worked at Crisis Pregnancy Center and loved it. Good for you Bill for stretching yourself by being involved with this issue. Loved the video..
