NeverDone

Written by cycleguy on April 15th, 2014

I had one of those days yesterday…busy beyond belief. It started early and ended up really late. They were good things…I am not complaining.

An elders meeting that was very positive.

A longer than normal Building Team meeting which was a definite “upper.”ย  Plans are beginning to add some much-needed space. All that to say I failed to write a post. So this morning I came to the office a little tired but also anticipating the day with some expectancy.

Then I read this post which really got me thinking about second chances and hope. I’ve said many times (and still believe it with all my heart) that no one is beyond hope. No one is beyond being loved. No one is beyond the reach of God’s arms. The cross proves it. The resurrection seals it. Lives changed demonstrate it.

My mind gravitated to this song. Hope it provides you with some hope and reassurance today.

What are you thoughts on second chances? Do you have a second chance story? Why not drop over to Betty’s post and leave a comment?

  1. I believe in second chances for many things. And third and fourth

  2. Daniel says:

I screwed up some wonderful first chances due to failings and weaknesses on my part. I have been praying for a second chance, but after many years, I am still praying. I still hope to share the good news with everyone the day when that comes along.

I can’t wait to hear, although I am already hearing it in your blog words. God is doing a work in you Daniel in so many ways, some I’m convinced you aren’t aware of. ๐Ÿ™‚ Keep letting Him do His work.

  3. Jeff says:

All is well that ends well.

  4. How can we not have second chance stories?! Man, I think I’m on my 2,378th chance. ๐Ÿ™‚ He’s so good and patient and forgiving. Reminds me of what I need to be (and what He expects me to be) with others. Good stuff, Bill. Thank you.

I’m so glad Betty shared that- what a powerful testimony of what God can do!

I do believe in second chances. I mess up all the time, but His grace is always there. That’s not an excuse for me to do as I will, I never want to hurt my Savior, but it does give me assurance that I am saved not by my own merit.

i was touched by that story as well TC. I love to hear or read or see testimonies like that. We all mess up and I certainly don’t intentionally want to hurt Jesus either.

  6. floyd says:

The resurrection is specifically for second chances. It is about redemption by a price non of us would ever be qualified to pay. My life is evidence to second chances… and too many to count at that.

I was over at Betty’s site earlier, that is an awesome answer to prayer!

Well said Floyd, especially with the celebration right around the corner. Oh…i saw you beat me to Betty’s site. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. the Old Adam says:

He gives me second chancesโ€ฆevery day.

    And when I mess upโ€ฆagain. He gives me 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and then 7×70 chances. (more if I need them ๐Ÿ˜€ )

Thanks Bill, this is one post I would love for everyone to read…it is a story of second chances. I could have wrote so much about the details of all God did and still doing, another time. My husband was saved at 13 but walked away from the Lord at 15…was 35 when he return…lots of hard years because of it too. There a great southern gospel song, Thanks To Calvary that has this line in it…thanks to Calvary I am not the man I use to be. Calvary brought not only salvations but mercy and grace that covers the second chance and a few more. What a life we have had due to that second chance. Praying for your daughter, for courage, strength and wisdom as she mothers without her mate. Praying what ever it takes too for your son in law. Again thanks Bill for your encouragement.

PS…really like the song, never heard it before…truth.

      • cycleguy says:

It is more of a contemporary song and since you like southern gospel I’m not surprised. ๐Ÿ™‚ Matt Redman actually wrote it and sang it a few years ago.

You’re more than welcome Betty. Stories like Jared and Gracie’s need told. No, they need shouted from the highest mountaintop. I can’t wait to hear more of what God is going to do in and through them as they grow in Him. (BTW: even though I am not a southern gospel fan…I have heard that song. It is an oldie…like me). ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. Dan Black says:

We all need second chances and we all need to give second chances to others. God died on the cross for our sins and to provide second chances. Great post!
