Eyes2

Written by cycleguy on September 22nd, 2014

Just about a year ago I wrote this post about my eyes.

I returned today for my yearly bludgeoning visit. Doggone it! That Dr. DeWar was not nicer this time than he was a year ago. Let me rephrase that: he is a super nice guy and the ladies who work in his office are a blast! But he was no nicer. No…in fact…he was worse. As my oldest daughter, Tami, told me earlier this year (I think): she I have special eyes.

Oh yeah! My eyes have gotten worse over the past year. The astigmatism in my left eye has worsened. My right eye has now developed it. Not only that I have started developing cataracts!! The only good thing about that is when they replace the lenses I could go without glasses. And that would be totally fantastic!

What about Lasik? Too old. Cut off age is 60. So glasses it is.

But it is better than being blind. And for that I am grateful.

When I was younger people used to talk about seeing life through rose-colored glasses. I know what the meant. Truth is: life can tear me/you down and cause us to see it as jaded. We see every little thing which goes wrong as piling in on us. We can’t/have trouble withΒ  trust. We live life wondering when the next shoe will drop.

THAT AIN’T NO WAY TO LIVE! (‘scuze the poor grammar)

Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. (Here is where I could pipe in all the optimistic trite phrase and one-liners but I won’t). Don’t let a poor attitude cloud your vision.

SEE LIFE CLEARLY!!

How about you?

Meanwhile…I can’t wait for this stoned look dilation to wear off.

Wait, so are you saying that you have recently been to CO for a little R&R? Are you now wearing “love beads”? Do you have a hankerin’ to listen to Dylan music from before he went electric? … Say it ain’t so Bill.

    • cycleguy says:

It ain’t so on all counts. Last time I was in CO was in ’93. I don’t wear any beads. And I was NEVER fan of any Bob Dylan music. πŸ™‚

I wouldn’t do it any other way. If you concentrate on what is right about things instead of what is wrong you will be a lot better off. Look for what you like about someone or something. A moron can find things that are wrong. Sometimes you have to be creative to find what is right.

  3. Hi Bill,

Sorry about your eyes. Has the dilation worn off yet? πŸ™‚

    Thanks for praying.

  4. Man, I hate dilation….they always say it’s mild. Tell that to the headache I always get.

  5. Bill…praying for ya! But in the meanwhile…

  6. Hey Bill, you did pretty good writing while those eyes were glazed over.

    I hear you.

Yet another joy in growing old.

    Sigh.

Thanks Linda. It has started wearing off before that although it took another hour or two. πŸ™‚ I can only imagine what kind of songs I could write with glazed eyes. yep, another joy.

  7. Optimism is the only option for a healthy life! It’s not pretending there is no bad, but looking with hope into the future. Seeing past the present and finding out what God says. So important! Thanks Bill.
