Slow

Written by cycleguy on July 6th, 2015

It is quiet around the office this morning. I gave the other two the option of taking last Friday off or today (Monday).

Side bar: I am not the “boss” of the staff or the church. (Did you just feel me shiver when I wrote that? That idea turns my stomach). But Ryan and Diana call me “boss.” Why I don’t know since I call them by their first name, except in staff meeting when I will say, “Okay lady boss. You are first.” 🙂  But for the sake of consistency, I am considered the “boss” of the staff, even though I would be foolish to ever think I am really “the boss.”

Back to the story: they chose today. Friday is a big day for cleaning up loose ends. Diana’s husband is the General Mgr of the Bloomington Harley-Davidson (Jo still says No), and the shop is closed Mondays, so it worked perfectly for her. Ryan has 3 young children and since Tuesday is his regular day off it actually gave him an extra day with his family (and getting a battery for the family vehicle).

So I’m here by myself. I knew as soon as they chose today that I would make my way here in the morning to study. I got a tad behind in my sermon prep two weeks ago when I moved Tami back from Knoxville. I 1/2 caught up last week. As I write this I am almost where I want to be. I will take care of that tomorrow morning. I’ll go to lunch with Jo, Tami and a church friend (it’s her birthday), then go for a bike ride this afternoon.

I like today. I needed to slow down some. How about you?

We actually had Friday off but I ended up working half days Fri, Sat, Sun to work on some things that my mind refused to put off until today. I still found time to rest and relax and enjoy some peace.

I am not surprised you take care of your staff. I had last evening to myself with no company and I wrote and paid bills and simply gazed into the distance

I definitely need to slow down.

This weekend I had the opportunity to slow down for a couple days when we visited a friend in Ocean City, MD. I’m so thankful for the fellowship and the refreshment I experienced.

Today, things are easing back into the swing of things at work. People are coming back from vacation or a long weekend, and they are catching up on emails, etc. My Monday meetings were moved to Tuesday.

I have on purpose pulled away from things, including writing for my blog to refresh. Every once in a while Ace goes somewhere without me and I get the whole apartment to myself…I love it because we are together all the time. Thats when I veg out on PBS movies and series I have recorded. This coming week and friend and I are doing a one day spa treatment…shopping, eating, swimming, and best of all a massage, can’t wait. It is good to take advantage of extra time alone to catch up, a day here and there for refreshment, an, it’s all about me day.

Nothing wrong with pulling away Betty. I have also done that and have not posted so often nor have I felt “bad” not doing so. it is also nice to veg from time to time.

  6. We had Friday off, but I have Monday off next year. And yes, slowing down is good.

Slow is an important part of peace for me. It gives me time to put my focus back on the Lord and just breathe. I hope you enjoyed your day!

I worked on Friday, but got double pay. 🙂 I do understand how nice it is to have that alone time though. It gives us an opportunity to just chill, reflect and organize our thoughts.
