When I was a pastor in Terre Haute from 1987-2000 I would occasionally (once a year) take a few days away by myself and be alone. I would fast and do a lot of praying, planning, reading, and dozing. Sort of recharge my batteries, as well as seek God’s direction on some things. It has been awhile since I have done that.
Ryan and I are taking Thursday to do just that. Well, he will be taking his coffee. (He’s a junkie, I mean coffee snob). I will be taking some things to drink and we do plan to take a lunch. It is not that type of retreat where you fast, pray and do some serious, down-and-dirty talking/sorting things out. We tend to have a pretty open and honest relationship so much of that stuff is out of the way. This is a planning, where-are-we-going from here type of retreat. We have some direction to lay out in our approach. Some reworking of material. Of course, we will do some praying. I already have a plan for that.
Needless to say, I will not be around all day. No media at all. I will not be here. Nor will I be at your blogs. But if you are reading this, I’d sure appreciate you sending up a prayer for us. Thanks.
I love that you recognize the need for doing this. I hope you find some things that you surprise you and excite you.
I look forward to those things.
I need a getaway like that as well. Been feeling kinda low lately. Everything is great except for the faith part.
Enjoy your retreat to the utmost!
I’ve needed one for quite awhile. It is way past time.
Have a great day doing this
Thanks Larry. I did.
Did you get it all figured out?
