In my last post, I showed  a picture of my new steed.

Two items are in that picture. Yes, the new bike but please take note of the T-shirt. Last November I was hit by a car while riding. For Christmas my daughter, Tami, bought me this shirt. Actually, she had it made just for me. She thought she was being funny. (In reality, I gave the okay). 🙂

Then on Friday, February 17th, I had another accident, an accident of the I-don’t-know-what-happened variety. I did a face plant (I split my helmet in three places); broke my collarbone in 4 places; broke 3 ribs, suffered multiple contusions; and still am dealing with a huge hematoma on my right hip.

But all is well and healing. I still do not know what happened. Shortly before the accident Tami had ordered me a new T-shirt made by the same people. She ordered one (hi-viz yellow) and I ordered one. The hi-viz green one had some stitching issues so she ordered another. Here is the green one:

But Tami’s “evil” friends were not done. Along with the hi-viz green (sense a color scheme here?) T-shirt they sent another one. “Tami, your dad seems such a good sport we wanted to make a T-shirt for him.” And below you see the T-shirt my daughter and her evil twins designed for me.

This was following my opening the package.

The is a better picture after I “settled” down and got the look off my face.

Actually, I think it is funny. Laughter is good medicine. I certainly can’t change what happened for either accident. So…I can choose to wallow and whine or laugh. I choose the latter. I’m wearing the “stunt” one to preach in this morning. Might as well get others to laugh with me (and they will).

And one final message for my daughter and those “evil” twins. I know where you live Tami. Thanks for being good sports. And I wear a lot of T-shirts so keep the cycling ones coming. 🙂 🙂

Hi Bill! Those photos after your accident are worth a thousand words. Oh man! How far you’ve come from those early scary days…at least now you can laugh when at that time nothing seemed very funny. Thank God you’ve healed as well as you have.

I think it’s time to quit the stunt circuit though. Maybe you could just go for a spin? May God protect your every trip and get you back to the enjoyment you love so well.
Thanks for sharing your journey here, and sharing the humor of your dear daughter too.

I have to quit the stunt circuit. I’m convinced if I get hurt one more time Jo might be the one to do me in and save the agony and pain. 🙂 I am grateful God has brought me through this journey. Oh…my daughter is just like me. Scary thought.

LOL, those are great 🙂 I love the very top one, the red 😀

Glad you like them. I talked to a cyclist the other day and that is usually the first question one asks. Priorities. 🙂

I think I like your daughter and her evil friends, they know how to get a laugh going. It sure looks like you left a little skin on the pavement..ouch, ouch, ouch. Hurts to even look at. Isn’t our bodies a great creation and actually can withstand more then we think. Recovering is a word I really don’t like, especially when it’s slow. You are doing great, got a new bike, new shirt and tons of “come to Jesus” message from your accident. (thats what my kids teased me about, how post was I going to get out of the heart surgery) Blessing to see you up and about, preaching again. God has spared you again…He must love using you.

It’s a good thing I like my daughter and I think I would like her evil twins. I left more skin on the pavement than I would like to have done. Hopefully never again. And yes, I have been blessed and have a good story to tell. 🙂 Thanks Betty.

  6. Love, love, love the T-shirts, Bill! Nothing better than being able to maintain a sense of humor in the midst of not-so-great circumstances. Glad to see you have healed up so well since the accident, too!
    Blessings!

i figured you would love them Martha. You have a good sense of humor. As for humor…got to have it or I’m sunk. I laugh a lot and easily.

From Pearline; Good shirts!! Try mentholatum on that hip bruise. It works!! David learned about it when he fell off ladder

    • cycleguy says:

Glad you like them. It is more than a bruise pearline. It is a huge blood pocket that hot compress and Lasix is helping to get down. Least I can turn over in bed now. Still can’t lay on it though.

  8. Lisa notes says:

This are great shirts, Bill! They all make me smile, especially in light of your recovery. 🙂

  9. floyd says:

I think we know where Tami got her sense of humor…

What a blessing to have loved ones to laugh and share life with.

    Praying for you, Bill.

Nice Trek. That’ll get you across Australia for next year’s ride. 🙂

  11. SheilaO says:

The “evil twins” are so happy to see that you received your shirt. 🙂 And we are even happier to see that you are on the mend! I must say, the picture with THE LOOK is our favorite!
