Progress

It’s been awhile since I last showed any pictures of our addition. I believe the last ones I showed were of the outside. Since we are paying cash for the building it has been a slower process for us but it looks like things will pick up. We have been trying to do as much with volunteer work but have pretty well decided that has to change. This time of the year is just entirely too hard to get people to commit to working on the addition. Can there by any busier time than between Thanksgiving and Christmas in peoples’ lives? I think not. Other than the framing, electrical and HVAC you see here, everything has been volunteer work. Stage and insulation (with the latter taking gobs of time) has been a slow haul. Our meeting Monday night changed all of that. We have enough to pay to hire it done, so hire it done we will. Here are the pictures of the inside as it stands right now:

Pictures from top left (stage area). Top right (Looking from stage to one of the left classrooms). Bottom left (Looking into the mechanical closet and HVAC above). Bottom right (Standing outside of mechanical closet). The brown you see on that last picture is 4 inch insulation which has to be cut to fit. Long tedious job and we are rethinking that to maybe doing something different and less time-consuming.

I’m excited to see it moving along…even though it is a snail’s pace right now. Soon though the HVAC will be installed, the electrical work will be finished, the ceiling will be insulated, and the drywall will be done.  Our goal is December 31. Check back with me on that one. 🙂

There’s the update. God has His timing, especially in the way of finances. So far, which is a huge blessing, we have had no injuries on site.

  1. Such amazing work done all by volunteers! You certainly have some gifted and dedicated folks in your congregation, Bill. I’ll look forward to your next update.
    Blessings!

The walls were built by a contractor but you are right Martha. Our volunteers have done amazing work. Like all things using volunteers takes a longer time for things to get accomplished. I’ll be glad to give an update because that means stuff will be done! 🙂

I did some catching up since I missed several post, taking a break. In fact, I really like the “Breaktime” post. It is kind of sad that everyone pulls out their cell phones and crams more data into their brain instead of just relaxing with a few and laughing about useless things because laughing is so good for us. But I will admit I have seen some pretty laughable things on facebook recently. In fact I need to send a few of them to people who don’t laugh but need to. Glad I am caught up Bill. Good news on your building. I remember building a gym for the Christian school our church had…it was the hardest months in our church memory. Some people left the church because they did not get a free cup of coffee at the concession stand in the new gym. And truthfully they did deserve a free cup and more because they worked night after night on that building. Misunderstandings are so hard to untangle and when someone tries they get blamed for not being understanding. I am sure you have weathered a few and will give free cups of coffee. just kidding.

Glad you caught up Betty. Also glad you liked the Breaktime post. So far God has blessed us with a trouble free addition. I wonder if some of that is our debt-free approach. No pressure for money. As for the free coffee, that is a youth addition so I seriously doubt it. LOL

That’s awesome! How exciting for everyone involved. Praying for you and the church.

I recommend “spray foam” insulation on the underside of the roof sheathing, which will encompass the top chord of the truss and in time will way more than pay for itself.
