Run

Written by cycleguy on January 7th, 2018

In my message Sunday I talked about God bringing dead men back to life (spiritually). One of the essentials of that is allowing God to “breathe” into us. Ezekiel 36 talks about how God wants to take away our heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh. Then in chapter 37 we find the amazing story of dead men’s bones coming to life.

It is not easy to stay strong. It is not easy staying committed. It is not easy making time for the Father. That is one of the reasons why I am doing my other blog Be Transformed. Being transformed takes place on a daily basis. It is not a once-in-a-lifetime hyper-jacked event. It is not an emotional experience. To be candid I see it as a “daily plodding.” Not that I see having a relationship with Jesus as a daily plod, but that I see a relationship as a daily “work in progress.” “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling,” the Bible says. That is not a works-based salvation; it is an awareness of the need for awe and respect and reverence for God.

Since I have my other blog to write some serious thoughts, I want to be a little creative with Cycleguy’s Spin. I’m thinking of calling Monday’s entries “Music Monday” where I share a song that “speaks” to me. Given my state of mind right now spiritually; my focus in my sermons and blog; I’d like to ask you to listen to this song.  The lesson is “pointed.”

I’d like to hear your thoughts.

Hi Bill! I clicked over to the song, and although I’m not much for the hard-rock genre, the words were so beautiful. It almost put tears in my eyes. I don’t think I’ll watch TV the same way again.

I didn’t know that you had another blog, I’ll have to check that out too. You’ve been busy!
Happy New Years to you and yours,
    Ceil

It is good to hear from you Ceil! I know my musical tastes are not the taste of others. 🙂 I consider this song pretty tame. LOL Anyway, the lyrics were very convicting. Thanks for checking out BeTransformed.

  2. Why do we run and hide when all God wants is time with us? I understand exactly what you mean by the “daily plodding,” Bill. May I remember each day to submit my will to God’s and embrace His presence.
    Blessings!

I love the lyrics, I pray that all of us stop running and hiding from the one who keeps calling out to us!

I guess I will never understand the guilt trip Christians are on. I have no idea why they need a Savior. Saved from what? Or why they need an invisible man in the sky to care about them. It all seems very odd to me. I’m just glad I don’t have those needs.

Who said anything about a guilt trip Jeff? In fact, I’d venture to say you have an axe to grind since I say nothing about what you have commented about. But I’ll answer your question: saved from what? I know you don’t believe in hell so it is almost an effort in futility to tell you about an eternity without Christ (whom you also seriously question). I know you say you don’t have those needs now but I don’t want it said at the end of your life no one told you of your need for a Savior.

I’ve heard the story.I certainly will never say I haven’t heard the story. I can say I have never seen any evidence to suggest it is true. I just can’t believe, why anyone believes, it is anything but old myths and legends.

Yes, sir, it is a drawing nigh process. One that pays dividends worth far more than can be measured my mere math.

    I like that song.
