Givin’ Some Love

Written by cycleguy on October 22nd, 2009

I know, I know, what a cheap way to draw your attention.  🙂  If I had a following and posted my blog on various other engines, I suspect I would have all kinds of visits.  But alas it is nothing like that.   You know…when I first started blogging almost 2 years ago, blogland was like a great big family.  Lots of visits to others.  Comments.  And Link Love! Now that Twitter and FaceBook is all the rage, blogs seemed to have taken a back seat.  I must confess that I neither Twitter nor FB.  My wife has stated that she doesn’t want me on FB (“you have your blog”).   And honestly, while I hear reports occasionally of increased traffic and keeping in touch, I realize that I am on the computer enough at the office.  I don’t need one more reason to be on it.  As for Twitter…sorry I have chosen to not even comment here, let alone participate.  To each his own.  So with Twitter and FB, blogs have taken a hit.  And Link Love! So in honor of times gone by and in honor of some well written blogs I want to spread some link love around.

One of the first blogs I ever read and still consistently read is here.  He reworked and sort of renamed his blog but I think his writing has gotten better (it was always good though) and much more pointed.  Make it a daily visit.

Another of one of my earlier blogs that I keep reading is here.  You never know what Heidi is going to write but you will always know it is honest.

When this lady writes she writes from the heart.  And watch out!  She prays dangerous prayers for people if you ask her to!

Another lady who writes from a unique perspective is here.  But look out!  She is trying to make a ton of people fat.  She loves to cook and likes to write about it.  She has other interests as well.   This may really appeal to the ladies in the bunch.

One of the ladies from the fellowship I pastor has started a blog.  She has suffered from lupus and fibromyalgia for years and just recently had her thyroid removed (they found some cancer).   Her first post was yesterday and you can read it here.

One of the funniest blogs I have seen lately is here.  Pete writes from his heart and experience at Cross Point in Nashville.  He is one guy I would truly like to meet some day. (I envy his hair).

One of my favorite guys to read is this one.  One of his most recent posts on Joy was top-notch.  I also like it because he is and writes about cycling.

A “kindred spirit” in many ways (I am finding out) is this young man.  I pray daily for he and his family.

If you want to read life from a different perspective (he also happens to live in Germany where his wife is stationed) you will want to check out Toby’s blog here.

This man lives in the UK and blogs on his reading of the Bible.  I like his simple entries.

Several new ones have come to my attention and I have them in my Google Reader.  You can read a sample here and here.

If you are a pastor I would suggest that you consider linking to this one and this one and this one.

For a good wrap-up of multiple articles from all sorts of sources, check out this link.

Well…that ought to keep you busy for awhile.  I suggest that you check them out (if you haven’t already done so) and make a comment or two.  Tell them I sent you.  That, and 74 cents will buy you a Polar Pop Diet Dr. Pepper.  🙂  Hope you enjoy your visits!

Honored to be mentioned here Bill! I’m joining you in the anti-twitter movement :-). Kidding, but today I deleted all things Twitter from my computer and phone. Too many distractions….and more time to comment on blogs like this :-).

T: Glad you were. You do have a site people need to see. Keep up the good work. Anti-twitter huh? key thought: too many distractions. And…comment any time. 🙂

  3. Hey, Bill, thanks for the love! I appreciate it.

You are welcome Jason! Glad to do it!

  5. Jim F. says:

    Thanks for the “Love”!

hmmm… maybe i need to setup a blog to get some “Love”… or perhaps I should just go straight to the current fad… facebook and twitter. Or even better… create a new fad, sale the advertising, and retire. Now that’s a plan!!! But first, I’ll pray about it 🙂

Ok Ryan make me feel guilty. 🙁 I should have mentioned that you are my manager and would like to “sell yourself” to others for domain work. Not domesticated work but domain. I would suggest the new fad. Just let me in on the ground floor. I need a nest egg for retirement. So…pray then do.

  8. techgeek says:

No guilt required my friend… its all good. As far as a new fad and the ground floor… if it happens your in!

    Ryan: Whew! and Alright! 🙂

I am still on your list? Awesome! I have neglected my blog. I am on FB now more than I’d like to be, but even that is becoming a giant SNOOOZE-fest bore. I am doing a project w/a group of ladies and it along with my fantastic family keeps me the most busy. I still heart ya though! 🙂

  11. cycleguy says:

Yes mam you are still on my list. I miss you blogging more often but certainly understand the schedule thing going on. Have a great weekend! 🙂

  12. Danaye says:

Thanks Bill for the love….and for just being a terrific person. Tell Jo we love her too and hope to see you both Sunday

  13. cycleguy says:

You’re welcome Danaye. Will tell her. Looking forward to seeing you and the family.

    Bill,

Awwwww! Thanks for the love! Greatly appreciate hearing and learning about all these others too. Some of course I know – others definitely don’t yet. Some I’m getting to know better all the time!

I used to tweet alot & would receive them on my phone too. I stopped most of that. I know only tweet every now and then but mostly use it as a real part of ministry… (read: as in prayer type things) Very refreshing not knowing what everyone is eating for lunch. Although – I will say that from time to time – there have been (or are) some real gems on twitter!

Of course – you know how I feel about Facebook! lol But I realize it’s not for you.. perhaps yet. (read: smiling deep with a hint of laughter)

    Much love & dangerous prayers,
    Camey

  15. cycleguy says:

Camey: you are welcome. I enjoy reading your posts and others need to benefit from them also. I know Danay’e reads them. Thanks for the love and prayers. Back at ya!

  16. Cameyg says:

Thanks, Bill. You’re welcome! I am thankful that Danay’e and I are getting to know each other! Excited that she is now blogging too!

    You were just prayed for!!

  17. cycleguy says:

Glad you and Danay’e are getting to know each other. I didn’t even know she read yours until i was visiting her after her surgery (thyroid) and she said, “I can’t wait to see how Camey’s turns out.” Cool! thanks for the prayers. They are much needed.

  18. Pete Wilson says:

I really hope we will get to meet. Thanks so much for the link love!

  19. cycleguy says:

Thanks Pete for taking the time to stop by and comment. Maybe it will be in God’s plan to meet some day.
