You Just Knew!

Written by cycleguy on July 10th, 2008

I am not sure how to handle this piece of information. I wanted to title it You Just Knew This Was Going to Happen but then again I wanted to title it Hold On To Your Hat! I reckon somewhere in the back of my mind I had this feeling that someday this issue would come up but was hoping it wouldn’t. If this even sees the light of day and is given a hearing it is hard to tell the ramifications of it. Every little twit will crawl out of the woodwork. Every author will be challenged. Every book that says anything against anything or anyone will be “lawsuitable.” This whole thing is just plain poppycock and is nothing more than grab at headlines. But at the same time given our current culture it doesn’t surprise me any. Nor should it surprise us if some radical judge agrees with him and either sides with him or grants him a hearing. What is the issue? Thought you’d never ask!

Man Sues Zondervan over Anti-Gay Bible Reference

Mlive.com reports that a Michigan man is suing Zondervan Publishing and a Tennessee-based publisher, saying that their versions of the Bible that refer to homosexuality as a sin have caused him years of emotional pain and mental instability besides violating his constitutional rights. Bradley LaShawn Fowler is seeking $60 million from Zondervan in Michigan, and $10 from Thomas Nelson, the Tennessee publisher. The court refused to appoint an attorney to represent him in his case filed in June against Thomas Nelson. “The Court has some very genuine concerns about the nature and efficacy of these claims,” the judge wrote. The publishers’ purpose is to reflect the public opinion to cause “me or anyone who is a homosexual to endure verbal abuse, discrimination, episodes of hate, and physical violence … including murder,” Fowler wrote.

See what I mean by my opening statements? Bestiality as a sin will challenged. Consulting a medium being called a sin will be challenged. Like I said, every author will be challenged if he says anything that goes against what a person believes. What do you think?

Does that mean that the gays are admitting that the Bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin? That's a newsflash for me. I thought they said that David and Jonathan were gay because they kissed. I would be the gay community will try real hard to stifle this guy fast.

Can I sue them if my kids see a gay pride parade while we are minding our business in some downtown while we're on vacation? That violates my kid's constitutional rights.

Opens up a whole can of worms doesn't it? you also brought up something new with the homosexuality a sin thing. Although they will probably say calling it that has subjected them to a whole bunch of abuse. I hope there is not a court in the land that will touch this one. IT is ridiculous.
