Sometimes, as you have probably noticed, decisions are easy to make. And sometimes, as you have also noticed, they are not so easy to make. It has been a standing joke among Jo & I the after Sunday worship “where-do-you-want-to-eat” ritual that we go through. I will ask her, “Where do you want to eat?” She will say, “I don’t care.” I will ask the same question again and she will answer the same way. Then I start making suggestions and I find out “I don’t want to eat there.” So…she really does care where we eat. 🙂 Funny thing is we now have another family that we do this with. Our little town is limited to one sit-down restaurant (Mexican) and about all the fast food places (McD’s, Wendys, BK, TB, KFC, Subway and PH). So we sort of move it around by considering a few places in another town close by. It is almost comical as we go through that same ritual with them. (I know techgeek reads this so feel free to plug in if you want). 🙂
Other decisions though are more important. Like moving, in my case, to pastor another church. Or in some cases, taking another job. Some have had the monumental decision to make about care of an aged parent or physically-challenged child. I have recently written about a decision I needed to make. Back in July I wrote this post and then updated it with this one. I would like to ask you to read the posts so I don’t have to reiterate them. In that last post you will notice that I asked you to pray for me in making a decision. The latter post describes the surgery procedure. I spoke with the manager of the Trek bike store in Columbus, OH a couple weekends ago because he had that exact surgery done and he gave me all the scoop about it-surgery, recovery, current movement, etc. His report was very favorable. I had another issue to deal with (besides moving my vocal chords) and that was the insurance. The dog owner’s insurance was not going to pay anything until I signed a form releasing them of all further charges and procedures. The reality was that I could do that then one day or two weeks later or 2 years later need surgery and it would have been all my responsibility. So after consulting people, praying, talking some more, praying some more, further consultation with a doctor, and praying even more, I have come to a decision. I am scheduled for surgery next Tuesday at 9:30. The bike dude said I would have about a 1-2 month recovery of very little if any exercise and no lifting. I reckon I should get a lot of reading done, provided I can stay awake. The doctor actually told me that I should go home the same day if all goes well, and if I feel like it, can go to work the next day. As for preaching on the 21st, it is up in the air. I will have to see if I am one of those who voice gets hoarse from the surgery. Anyway, I would appreciate any prayers you may send up for me. Thanks.
Will definitley be praying for God’s touch upon your body.
Thanks Michael. They will be appreciated.

Thanks Jan for the prayers. I am confident that all will go well. Man, it ought to be interesting when you and Michael come visit. There will be three couples trying to decide! 🙂 Love you too.
