For a Friend

Written by cycleguy on August 12th, 2010

I am one who does not take my friendships lightly.  I reckon because I am a pastor I find myself being “choosy” as to whom I choose as friends.  I certainly have become more selective in what and with whom I share things.  However, when I have a chance to do something good for a friend, I jump at the chance.

Let me introduce, if you don’t already know him, Kary Oberbrunner.  I met Kary in November of ’08 when I attended theSticks Conference in Loudonville, OH.  Kary was not able to attend but I volunteered to take copies of his new book to the conference for distribution.   That book was called The Fine Line and you can read my review of it here.  For the past several months Kary has been promoting his new book (soon-to-be-released) called Your Secret Name. I wish I could tell you I have read it but I haven’t.  Kary is attempting to have Zondervan send one to me and then I will.  However, I have been following his blog and events surrounding the release of the book.   So…here’s the deal.  You can go here to read Kary’s blog and read all the back stories involving the book and people’s response to its premise.   You will read personal stories of people’s lives that have been changed.   To learn more of what you can do to help, you can go here. Let me just clue you in on the focus of the book:

Target audience is the 3D group (Disillusioned, Disengaged, Dechurched).  It is written for people who need to find hope and freedom.

Please do me a favor:  go visit Kary’s site, look around, maybe even take the test, leave a comment telling him I sent you, and then look forward to the release of the book and its powerful message.  It sounds to me like it will be a book with a message that many need to hear.  Thanks.

The Fine Line was one of my favorite books I’ve read. The story at the end when the young pastor passes away is gut wrenching. I look forward to this new project.

Bill, I like the new threaded comments.

  5. I had the amazing honor and priveledge or reading the book before it was released. Honestly it is engaging, powerful and so full of truth. I felt like Kary put his heart out there to reach those who are the 3D crowd. Well worth purchasing this book and giving them to friends who need hope.

Just surfed around his site – lots of good stuff – I only did it cause a friend asked me too 😉

Thanks for pointing me that way and I will check it out even more later.
