Reminder

Written by cycleguy on September 26th, 2011

I have been gone all weekend helping a former church celebrate their 100th anniversary.  It was good to return to a former ministry, one that carries a lot of memories, with a lot of good people.  While gone, I found out one of our adopted Chinese girls was having surgery this morning in Indianapolis on her cleft palate.  I want to think it is something like surgery #3 or 4.  She is seven years old now and is getting to the age where children get cruel.  Lucy is hard to understand, so please pray for her, and her parents Reed and Amy.  Pray that this skin graft from her thigh and implanted into her cleft palate will “take.”   Thanks.

I got in late last night from the trip to Ohio, so I was unable to really write a post for today.  I leave you with two thoughts:

WHAT GOD HAS PROMISED, HE WILL DELIVER.

And this totally awesome and overwhelming passage of Scripture from Psalm 19:7-11

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.  More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.  Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

I don’t know why I am to share that passage today.  I read it yesterday (Sunday) during my Quiet Time.  Maybe it is for you.   May you and I find a love for God’s Word that is unsurpassed in its passion.   How was your weekend?  Did God’s Word come alive to you as you listened and read?  I’d like to hear from you.

That is one of my favorite passages. We used to sing it often.

  2. It was an exciting weekend. God really moved and we had several new visitors.

Weekend was good – Saturday was a pretty slow day – it rained and so no fall baseball game for my son. Yesterday I preach and it was the church picnic which was a lot of fun.

My blog today is about Scripture that come alive to me 🙂

Glad you had a great weekend!

Rained while we were gone on Friday but Saturday and Sunday turned out beautifully for their celebration. Glad your weekend went well. never hurts to have a quiet one occasionally. Thanks Jim.

My weekend was good. One passage that has come alive to me lately is in Nehemiah. Before he goes to rebuild the wall he prays that he would have favor with the king. I’ve been praying that I would have the same kind of favor in a couple of situations.

    Hi Bill,
I’m glad you had a good trip. I had a quiet weekend. I got the divorce and property judgment back a few days ago in the mail from the Trial Justice. It wasn’t great but I suppose it wasn’t a bad loss either. I will hopefully pay off my 1/2 duplex, have a bit of money in the bank, and have a small retirement fund for later. I’ll be working until I can’t work anymore. Whether that’s 65 years old or beyond. The price of divorce but also the price of my sanity and my freedom from spousal abuse. (at least in my mind)

I was reading in Romans 7 and 8 again this weekend. It says there that if we live our lives according to the flesh we will die. As believers and christians we must put the flesh under our control and follow after the Spirit of God.

Have a good day Bill, talk to you later.

Even though it is a mixed bag Linda, the fact that you are out from under spousal abuse speaks for itself. Glad you are trusting God to take care of you. Agree about putting the flesh under control. Hope you had a good day also.

My weekend was good and God’s word came alive to me when I read 1John 4 especially verses 7-19.

  8. Jon says:

Weekend was good…just lots of family time.

Love that passage. Thanks for sharing!

Will definitely keep Lucy and her family in my prayers.

  9. Larry Hughes says:

Week end was good. Spent some quality time with the wife. Relfected on some passages from the bible ( Revelations). That time might just be around the corner.

Still on daily injections of antibiotics at the hospital and will be for at least two more weeks. Getting to be a drag and expensive.

    • Larry Hughes says:

AS for Lucy, She will come through in fine condition. I can see a day when no one will be able to tell of her condition as God will guide the surgeons to do miraculous repairs and speech therapy will give her a clear voice.

I would imagine some day she will be able to sing of God’s glory.

Will keep praying for your treatments larry. Good to spend time in the Word. As for Lucy, that will be an awesome thing to happen. Right now she is totally into gymnastics and can be quite a testimony right there. 🙂 thanks.

This past Sunday was West Park’s 50 year anniversary and while I have felt in a state of limbo the last few months I felt like I definitely needed to be there. It was what I needed to hear. It was based on two words from Matthew 4- Follow Me. Still working through my thoughts on it but will get there.
