Must See TV (Okay blog)

Written by cycleguy on September 30th, 2008

When I was a pastor in Terre Haute I went through a time of refreshing that changed the course of my life and at the same time prepared me for what was to come. It was August of 1999 and I visited this church with my oldest daughter, Tami, on a Sunday evening. Their service was called eXchange and was geared for the 18-30 crowd (no remarks allowed). That first visit was like a watershed moment for me, in more ways than one. It was like water to my thirsty soul. Each evening the band, Fish in the Sand (Fish for short), led worship. I found myself worshiping like I never had before, with a freedom that was long overdue. But I also met this guy as a result of attending. I met a lot of neat people while living in Terre Haute-a cycling buddy named Jim; a baseball guy who likes the Cardinals (I like the Pirates); and a bunch of others. I count Scot as one of those neat people. I went through a tough time in April and May of 2000 and what sustained me was the closeness I felt with God at eXchange, fostered a lot by the worship but also Scot’s prayers for me.  My friendship with Scot has continued and now that we have moved to Spencer, my bride and I will sometimes drive to Terre Haute (about 40 minutes) to worship at eXchange on Sunday evening. We normally see friends from years past and I get to at least say hi to Scot. In a recent post Scot had the following blog. You know how they used to advertise with “Must See TV?” This is “Must See Blog.” Take a moment and click here and lift your heart today with Scot’s blog.

When you are done let me know what you think or maybe you may want to check out Scot’s blog comments and make one.

  1. Hey Bill,

Thanks for the kind words. So glad that we have crossed paths and I am excited to see what God keeps doing in your life. You have overcome :>

Good call! Watching the music video was pretty awesome. Our worship service is really good, but nothing like that. That was amazing!

And on a less serious note, Cardinal fans go to church?

  3. Camey says:

Thank you for sharing that! Truly worth the time spent in watching and in worship!

You are more than welcome Scot. God has used some people in that overcoming. You are one.

Michael: thanks for stopping by Scot’s site to view and mine to comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. Listening to the interview really set the stage for the video. WOW! That would have been incredible.

Camey: my sentiments exactly. ‘Nuff said.

I forgot Michael. it does seem strange to see Cardinal fans in church and it will seem even stranger to see them in heaven. 🙂 I believe you are a Pirate fan (a long-suffering one I might add). join the club.
