Ten- Week 6

ten

After a change in my message last week I will be back at it this week with a message on “Honor Your Parents.”  It is not unusual for me to hear of those who have lousy relationships with their parents.  In fact, I had lunch just recently with someone who bemoaned the poor relationship he had with his mother.  Like many, it goes way back to his childhood and in his case was made even more stark by his conversion to Jesus as His Savior.  He has been kicked down, pushed down, jumped on, spit on, slapped around and cussed at and yet he desires to have a good relationship with his mother because he feels that is what God would want.  (Only the cussed at is real.  The others were figurative language).  It really isn’t fashionable to honor your parents.  It is more fashionable to bash them.  I cringe when someone calls his/her father or mother their “old man” or “old lady.”

How can we honor them?  I will be sharing that Sunday morning.  As always I would appreciate your prayers for me as I preach and for those who are there to listen and grasp the lessons.   Kudos once again to Dan Drewes for the banner.
