#TruthDecay#TheBible

Written by cycleguy on March 4th, 2022

Just this week I listened to a podcast by John Cooper, the lead singer of the Christian rock band, Skillet. John was responding to a podcast by Phil Vischer (Veggie Tales fame) where he demeaned John and Alisa Childers because of their stand against “deconstruction.” Phil and his other two hosts (one was Skye someone and the other a female whose name I never caught) admitted they didn’t even know what deconstruction was. My advice: unless you know something about what you are talking about, don’t talk. How’s that for “kinder words” than “Shut up.”

Anyway, deconstruction is a very real thing going on. A group called “exvangelicals” are taking their garbage to the masses. Several artists (Kevin Max formerly of DC Talk, Jon Steingard from Hawk Nelson, and Audrey Assad to name a few), “superstars” like Joshua Harris, and even a former Desiring God writer have taken to the airwaves and print to tell their story.ย  Kevin Max believes in the “Universal Christ.” What in the world is that supposed to mean?

My new series on Sunday morning will be called Truth Decay and each sermon will deal with some belief that Progressivism (I refuse to call it Progressive Christianity because it isn’t) is seeking to destroy. Historic, orthodox Christianity is under attack by the liberal progressives (and I’m not talking politically). If I can be one voice to help prepare the people for their garbage, i.e. false teaching, then I want my voice heard. The first in the series this Sunday is entitled The Bible is Still the Bible.

I hope you will join me this Sunday with your attendance in person or via live stream. Most of all, though, I covet your prayers.

  1. Glynn says:

I was just reading where “deconstruction” is just another version of gnosticism. Solomon was right – there is nothing new under the sun.

  2. This is a much needed subject to discuss and to reveal for what it is, Bill – the deconstruction of God’s Word in favor of man’s weak and immoral opinion. I spent too many years, now considered wasted, listening to garbage like this and thinking that God was a relic instead of a Savior. I’ll never be able to thank Him enough for showing me the light.
I’m looking forward to being enlightened by your sermon this Sunday; so sorry I missed being present for the last one.
    Blessings!

I knew you were traveling last week Martha but appreciate the fact that you missed being there. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think you hit the nail on the head with the Word of God vs man’s weak and immoral opinion. I’ll look forward to “seeing” you Sunday.

People. No wonder God hides His face from us!
Looking forward to tuning in later in the day…. ๐Ÿ™‚
By the way.. I love how you preach and teach!

  4. My thought went the way Glynn went in the same direction, nothing new under the sun. I have not even heard you sermon but I am going to say this to you……preach it brother, preach it.

Sadly it is true Betty. Much of what we are dealing with today is Gnosticism regurgitated. Thanks for the encouraging words.
