Found the following quote in Soul Revolution by John Burke that struck a chord with me and made me chuckle big time.
“And we’re all different. We have different ways of communicating but don’t always value these differences. In a study of preschoolers, some researchers at Harvard recorded the sounds kids made on a playground. They found that 100% of the girls’ sounds were audible words. They loved to talk. Little girls talked to each other, themselves, the swing set, anything! Little boys were different, however; only 68% of their sounds were understandable words. The rest were sound effects: grunts, growls, booms, bangs, car sounds, train sounds, you name it. That explains a lot doesn’t it-like the success of three Terminator movies! Big sounds, big explosions-that’s all it takes to speak deep into the heart of a man.”
If this is true is it any wonder why we have trouble communicating? What do you think? Have you found this to be true in your world? Let me know what you are thinking.
LOL, my husband, his brothers, and pretty much all the guys I know still make sound effects to go along with stories they are telling. Haven’t heard my daughters or girlfriends do this!
Sort of reminds me of Home Improvement. 🙂 Thanks for the comment Lanette.
Bill, I think I must have missed something. Have you updated on the situation with your church rent? And also your shoulder? If you have written it somewhere, forgive me for missing it. Blessings and grace.
