Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

Written by cycleguy on February 18th, 2010

Pretty fair question don’t you think?  I mean, after all, it was the same question Jesus asked His followers:  “Who do men say I am?”  And then following it up with “Who do you say I am?”  So…let me ask you who do you say Jesus is?

Is Jesus your Homeboy as some t-shirts loudly proclaimed?

Mike Dirnt, bassist for Green Day, said, “I am down with JC.  He’s cool.”

Some Emergent people are unsure who Jesus is.  Some even say He is a good man.

Mormons say Jesus was not God but only a man who became a god, along with his half-brother Lucifer.

JW’s believe Jesus was just Michael the Archangel.

The Unitarian Universalists say Jesus was not God but essentially a reincarnation of Mister Rogers.

The Masonic Lodge purposely omits the name of “Jesus.”

The Lakota Native American tribe say “Jesus is the buffalo calf of God.”

So…who do you say Jesus is?

Christ, the son of the Living God…Messiah…Savior…

    Good answer Michael. 🙂

  3. *~Michelle~* says:

    Amen, Michael

Jesus was God’s only Son who He gave to us….to take away our sin and give us Life (yes, with a capitol L…..Eternal Life)….. because He loves us THAT much.

King of Kings is my favorite.

  4. Ike says:

Paul said in Colossians 2:9, “In him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily” (cf. 1:13, 19). He said in Philippians 2:6, “Though he was in the form of God he did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped but emptied himself.” Hebrews 1:2-3 says, “In these last days God has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of [God’s] glory and the very stamp of his nature, upholding the universe by his word of power.” Hebrews 1:8-9 says, “Of the Son [God] he says, “Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever.” And John writes, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God . . . and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us full of grace and truth” (John 1:1, 14).

When Paul said that Jesus is the Son of God, we understand him to mean that Jesus is God. He is not a mere man or a high-ranking angel in human form. He is truly man and truly God.

Can’t argue with Scripture Ike. I have no questions about Jesus being fully God and fully man. Thanks for the input.

Jim: hard to argue with Peter’s assessment isn’t it? Thanks for coming by.

  9. Jan Frame says:

Jesus is the son of the living God, the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, creator of all, father, abba, dad. 🙂 That’s what Jesus is to me.
